Z! Live 2026 Review
Z! Live 2026 Exceeded Every Expectation in Zamora
Some festivals stand out because of their lineup.
Others stand out because of their size.
And then there are festivals that somehow get everything right.
After spending three days at Z! Live 2026 in Zamora, both as an accredited photographer and as a fan, I can honestly say this festival left a stronger impression on me than I expected.
The bands were excellent.
The atmosphere was welcoming. The food was genuinely good.
The beer never seemed far away.
The production was professional from start to finish.
And perhaps most importantly, the entire event felt designed by people who genuinely understand what metal fans want from a festival experience.
Z! Live 2026 proves that bigger is not always better
One of the most refreshing aspects of Z! Live is that it never feels overwhelming.
Getting around the festival grounds is easy. Food areas are efficient and varied.
Waiting times remain reasonable.
The overall experience feels comfortable without losing any of the energy that makes a metal festival exciting.
The sound quality deserves special recognition.
Across all three days, every band benefited from clear mixes, powerful production and professional stage management.
Whether standing close to the stage or further back in the crowd, the quality remained consistently impressive.
Opeth and Emperor delivered a brutal opening day
The first day immediately set the tone for the entire weekend.
Watching Opeth perform live remains a unique experience.
Few bands can move so naturally between beauty, complexity and crushing heaviness.
Their set was immersive from beginning to end and reminded everyone why they continue to hold such a respected place within modern metal.

Later that night, Emperor transformed the festival into something entirely different.
Their performance was dark, intense and commanding.
Even decades into their career, the Norwegian legends continue to demonstrate why they remain one of the most influential bands in extreme metal history.
Spanish bands that left a lasting impression
One of the strongest aspects of this year’s lineup was the opportunity to discover and appreciate outstanding Spanish talent.

Headon opened the festival with energy, confidence and the kind of stage presence that immediately captures attention.
They provided the perfect start to the weekend and quickly earned the crowd’s respect.

Noah Histeria was another highlight.
Their performance showcased the strength and creativity currently present in the Spanish metal scene.
Powerful, authentic and highly engaging, they left a lasting impression on many people in attendance.
Burning Witches, Serious Black and H.E.A.T. kept the momentum going

Burning Witches brought classic heavy metal energy to Zamora with confidence, power and an undeniable connection to the audience.

Serious Black delivered exactly what fans hoped for: strong melodies, memorable choruses and a polished performance that kept the crowd engaged throughout their set.

H.E.A.T. once again proved why they are among the most reliable and entertaining hard rock bands currently touring.
Their combination of charisma, musicianship and infectious songs made them one of the most enjoyable performances of the weekend.
Dominum and Epica brought spectacle to the festival

Dominum offered one of the most visually entertaining shows of the entire festival.
Their zombie-inspired concept, theatrical presentation and energetic performance created a unique atmosphere that stood out immediately.

Epica delivered exactly the level of excellence expected from one of the biggest names in symphonic metal. Powerful vocals, outstanding musicianship and a massive sound made their performance one of the defining moments of the weekend.
Beyond the bands

A festival is never only about the bands.
Some of the best memories come from everything happening between the concerts: friends sharing drinks, fans discovering new music, conversations with people who travelled from different countries, and thousands of metalheads enjoying a few days away from everyday life.
Those moments matter just as much as the performances themselves.
They are what transform a festival into an experience.
A press operation done right
The festival’s press team deserves special recognition.
Communication was clear, accreditation procedures were efficient, access was well organized and support throughout the event was consistently professional.
From a media perspective, Z! Live was one of the easiest festivals I have worked at, allowing photographers and journalists to focus on what they came to do.
We will be back
When the final notes faded and the last fans began leaving the grounds, one thought remained.
We want to come back.
Whether as photographers, journalists or simply as fans, Z! Live has earned its place among the festivals we genuinely look forward to experiencing again.
Zamora has built something special.
And we cannot wait to return.
