ROCKHARZ 2026 Is Looking Massive: Helloween, Alice Cooper, Kreator and More Are Ready for Ballenstedt
ROCKHARZ 2026 is shaping up to be one of the strongest metal gatherings of the summer. The festival will take place from 1 to 4 July 2026 in Ballenstedt, at the Verkehrslandeplatz in Asmusstedt, and the current line-up already makes it clear that this edition is coming in heavy.
Among the biggest names on the bill are Helloween, Alice Cooper, Emperor, Feuerschwanz, Kreator, Airbourne, Avatar, Black Label Society, Paradise Lost, The Haunted and many more. The official band announcements and the current festival line-up show a broad mix of classic heavy metal, theatrical shock rock, black metal, folk metal, thrash, punk, hard rock and modern extreme sounds.

For me, Helloween immediately stands out. They are one of those bands that never stop meaning something. There is melody, speed, history and pure metal spirit there.
Alice Cooper is another giant presence on this bill, and that is exciting for a completely different reason. His theatricality, stage identity and ability to turn a show into a dark spectacle still make him one of the most iconic names in rock.
Then there is Kreator, bringing that unmistakable force and brutality that only a band of that size and legacy can deliver. And Feuerschwanz add another flavor entirely, with their huge, celebratory folk-metal energy that always feels made for a festival stage.
One of the details I personally love in this line-up is Dominum. I heard them for the first time at Summer Breeze 2025, and they were one of those bands that instantly stayed in my head.
There is something fun and sharp about their zombie-metal identity, but it works because the band commits to it fully. They feel like a project that still has room to grow, and I honestly just want to see them keep getting bigger.
Another band I really want to catch here is The Haunted. I have long been a big fan of Ola Englund and everything he brings to the metal world, not only as a musician but also through the knowledge and perspective he shares on YouTube. That kind of consistency, honesty and passion is inspiring, and it adds a personal layer of excitement when a band like The Haunted appears on a festival bill like this.
There is also a recent update worth noting. On 2 April 2026, ROCKHARZ announced a billing change: Ex Deo and Kataklysm cancelled their appearances, and the festival confirmed Decapitated and Cypecore as replacements. It is the kind of adjustment festivals sometimes need to make, but it also keeps the line-up aggressive and strong.

From a ticket perspective, there is an important detail right now. ROCKHARZ states that the ticket marketplace is closed, but there will be a final sales round for festival tickets on 16 April at 15:00. The official site also says that day tickets are currently available, and those can be purchased through the official myticket page.
That matters, because for many people this opens two good options: either try for the last festival ticket round, or go directly for a day ticket if one specific day or set of bands is the main target. Either way, if ROCKHARZ 2026 is on your radar, this is not the moment to wait too long.
ROCKHARZ has always had something that feels different. It is heavy, but not empty. Big, but still personal. And when a line-up can bring together the emotional weight of Helloween, the spectacle of Alice Cooper, the violence of Kreator, the fire of Feuerschwanz, the dark attack of The Haunted and the rising weirdness of Dominum, that is not just a festival announcement.
That is a serious invitation.
